Project Details.
Following severe flooding on the London & Surrey borders during 2013 a flood defence system capable of storing 10000m³ of water was created to handle water run-off in surrounding areas.
Bunds were created around the site and covered with a mesh of gravel grids which in turn were covered with pre-seeded turf.
The solution allowed for excess rainfall and run-off to be contained in an environment that allowed for easy drainage and removed the risk of localised flooding.
Site Details.
The site covered approximately 4 hectares and was predominantly semi-improved grassland.
Acting as the site ECoW (Advisory).
A PRA was undertaken to ascertain potential roosts along the surrounding tree lines. Surveys were undertaken to determine presence/absence of badgers.
185 reptile refugia were deployed and checked twice per day for 30 days and translocations made to a nearby receptor site.
Supervision of vegetation clearance, turf stripping and topsoil removal. Deliver toolbox talks to contractors and provide on-site advice as required.
