Project Details.
A London local authority were planning to expand the size of a cemetery. The existing site had enough spacial capacity to last until 2024 and the expansion would increase capacity until approximately 2040.
Due to the sensitive nature of the sites work a pragmatic and sensitive approach to all works was required.
Site Details.
The area of expansion was challenging as the land was adjacent to a designated Local Nature Reserve (LNR) covering 13ha of ancient marshland, sedge fens, 3 woodland areas (containing Oak, Ash, Cherry, Alder and Dogwood), wet meadows and 16 waterbodies.
The site attracted bird species such as Sedge Warbler, Reed Bunting, Green & Great Spotted Woodpecker, Tawny Owls, Kestrels and Sparrowhawks.
Floral species included Betony, Southern Marsh Orchid, Marsh Marigold, Ragged Robin and Yellow Loosestrife
